Important information to know – Frequently Asked Question (FAQ)

  • There are no qualifications or age restrictions with our program. Anyone living in Bloomington or Eden Prairie who is in need of our service can have meals delivered. 
     
  • Meals cost $5.00 each and include an entrée, vegetable, bread or grain, a fruit or dessert, and milk or juice. We include additional fresh produce twice a week at no additional charge.
     
  • We deliver meals 5 days a week and provide frozen meals for weekends if needed. Clients can choose how many days a week they would like meals.
     
  • Meals are delivered by volunteers between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Weekend meals are delivered with the Friday meal delivery. The weekend meals are frozen and can be heated in a microwave oven.
     
  • Deliveries can begin within one or two days following completion of a phone application.
     
  • Meals are available for short or long-term needs. A client can enroll for one week or several months or years.
     
  • A menu and information packet will be delivered with the first meal. If a meal must be canceled, we request a 1-day advance notice.
     
  • Bills are mailed out monthly for meals received in the previous month. Clients can pay by mailing back a check or money order, or pay by a credit card on the website using PayPal.
     
  • All of our menu items meet dietary guidelines for low-sodium and are diabetic-friendly. We also offer dairy-free, vegetarian, gluten-free, renal, mechanical soft and puree meal options.
     
  • All meals comply with the Older Americans Act and Dietary Guidelines for Americans and all meals meet at least 1/3 of the daily recommended dietary allowance.
     
  • Meals are made at the Metro Meals on Wheels Kitchen of Opportunities located in Minneapolis. Cold meals are brought to us one day prior to client delivery and are kept refrigerated. Meals are heated and then packed by our staff on the morning of delivery to ensure maximum quality.
     
  • Bloomington Eden Prairie Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization that relies on donations to support the low cost of meals. Financial donations are always encouraged and always appreciated. (You want to help us? Please donate)
