WANTED: Volunteer Drivers for Meals On Wheels!

Meals On Wheels (MOW) relies on volunteers drivers. Without the 200+ volunteer drivers we have, the program simply would not exist. Every weekday, volunteers deliver nutritious meals, smiles and safety checks to MOW clients.

Volunteers come from all walks of life – students, single persons, families, retirees and company employees who deliver meals during their lunch breaks.

MOW is deeply grateful to the many churches, businesses and service organizations that volunteer their time and energy to deliver meals.

How to become a Volunteer Driver

Our delivery routes cover the Cities of Bloomington and Eden Prairie. We will find a route that works for you. Usually a route takes about an hour to complete.

Volunteers commit to a regular schedule . The most common commitment is one day a week. Some do one day every other week. Others do one day a month. We are flexible.

If you cannot do a regular schedule, consider becoming a substitute driver.  Substitute drivers are critical to fill in when a regular driver can’t deliver a route for some reason.

To be a volunteer driver you need four things:

  1. An automobile
  2. A valid driver’s license
  3. Proof of auto insurance
  4. Information for a background check – see the form here. Please print the form, fill it out and send it to us, or bring it with you.

If you or your church or your organization would like to deliver meals, call our office at 952-835-1665.  We will send you an information packet and get you started on a rewarding volunteer experience.

We are ALWAYS in need of more volunteer drivers.
